Lean In ShowMe50 is launching our monthly Power Lunch series!
These Power Lunch meetings will be held every 3rd or 4th Wednesday. We will post dates at ShowMe50.org/Events and send an email to our distribution list, so sign up on our web page!
Each month we’ll start with one situation card from the Lean In 50 Ways to Fight Bias program to learn what to say next time we find ourselves in a work bias situation. We will follow that with one or two meaningful topics and action tips.
In our inaugural 9/23 Power Lunch we are going to cover two topics:
- Disrupting the tendency to only gravitate toward people like us, and making sure everyone has equal access to achieve their potential and deliver high performance to achieve team goals…. that’s what inclusive leaders do. Be a role model for Innovative Inclusion by learning about people who are different from you. Sep 15 – Oct 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. Since Latinx people are 18% of the US population, they are likely a part of your employee group and your customer base. We’ll spend a few minutes actively clicking on the links in an engaging webpage to internalize some key facts.
- Working from home is great but has led to a lot of stress too. Learn how to advocate for yourself at work by improving your communications to have difficult conversations. We will explore… What boundaries, expectations or responsibilities at work do you want to clarify? What arrangements have you worked out with your boss? Are they helping? Now that you have heard what is working for others, what support would you want to ask for? What would you ask for if you weren’t afraid?
