Unconscious bias and engrained cultural norms continue to create career barriers for women to advance into senior leadership roles in representative numbers. The statistics, especially for women of color, continue to be discouraging. But with hard work and strategic planning, everyone can achieve their potential and rise to the top.
On October 14, 2017, I had the opportunity to share my insights and career tips with Supply Chain students at Clayton State University in Atlanta, Georgia, so they enter the workforce with EYES WIDE OPEN.
Don’t start your career as Katy Perry sings about, “chained to the rhythm”. Get smart. Get strategic. Act. Achieve.
The presentation covers:
- Statistics of gender in the workplace
- Root causes of gender bias
- Solutions to level the playing field for everyone
- Top 5 career tips to navigate workplace obstacles to achieve your potential
BONUS: The talk started with a quick lesson on how to tell a story using the Logic in Communication technique of S-C-Q-M. Great business skill to have!
